Player of the Week

Don Hutson was one of the greatest receivers ever to take the field. A native of Pine Bluff, Ark., Hutson played end for Coach Frank Thomas’ Crimson Tide from 1932-34, capping his All-American career with a memorable performance in Alabama’s decisive 29-13 victory over Stanford in the Rose Bowl, which clinched the national championship. In addition to his outstanding speed and hands, he was an innovator who invented many of the modern passing routes, first teaming with Alabama’s Dixie Howell and then in a record-setting career with the NFL’s Green Bay Packers. Hutson is a member of both the College Football Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
